Note: This system is designed to use the stock hanger locations. Please check the alignment of your OEM system before installation. If the tips of your OEM system are not straight or centered in the rear valance, then the replacement system will also be misaligned.

WARNING: IF YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCED IN THE AREA OF AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICS, WE STRONGLY URGE THAT YOU REFER THIS INSTALLATION TO YOUR MECHANIC.

Warning: Do not work under a vehicle being held up by only a jack. Place jack stands securely under the vehicle in the manufacture-specified location.

  1. Park the vehicle on a smooth level asphalt or concrete surface and set the parking brake firmly. Place a block in front of and behind the front wheels. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and place on jack stands under the frame in the manufactures specified locations. Alternatively, it would be best to have the vehicle raised on a hydraulic lift.
  2. Spray all the rubber hangers with a spray lubricant to ease removal of the system.
  3. The stock mufflers are secured to the vehicle by rubber hangers and clamps. Remove the clamps and remove the mufflers from the car.
  4. Remove the center section by removing the bolts from the flange in front of the OEM resonator and pulling it out of the rubber isolator. As an option, you may remove the cross brace, but this is not necessary.
  5. Remove the OEM "Y" pipe by removing the 4 nuts holding the pipe to the catalytic converters. Save these nuts and gaskets for future use.

[edit] Installation of the Stillen Exhaust System

  1. To aid installation, spray the rubber isolators with spray lube.
  2. Attach the forward "Y" pipe section of the Stillen exhaust system to the catalytic converter using the factory gaskets and nuts. The side with the slip joint will go on the passenger side using 1 clamp. Do not tighten the nuts at this time.
  3. Attach the center section to the "Y" pipe using the supplied hardware and gasket. Hang on the rubber hangers.
  4. Install the mufflers by first hanging them on the hangers and then attaching the flanges using the supplied gaskets and hardware but do not tighten at this time.
  5. Tighten the bolts and clamps from the front to the back making sure the system is straight and clear of the sway bar and cross member. The front bolt holes at the catalytic converters allow for some adjustment for this. The flanges on the mufflers should be tightened last AFTER checking alignment of the exhaust tips to the rear valance.
  6. Transfer all 4 of the vibration dampeners form the OEM system to the STILLEN system.
  7. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
  8. Done.
