Few know, but everyone eventually finds out, that the OEM wheels and tires on the G37 cannot be rotated in the typical manner (rear right to front left, etc...). The G37 comes with a staggered wheel and tire setup. This means the front tires are not the same size as the rear tires. The majority of the wheels are staggered as well . In addition, many performance tires are directional and they must only be mounted so they roll in a specific direction. This will prevent you from simply moving the left wheels to the right side and visa versa. However, tire rotations can still be done provided you follow one of the methods below.

The G37 has studs on the front rotors that prevent you from installing the rear wheels onto the front. This must be removed for aftermarket wheels to fit. Front and rear wheel size for this model differs, therefore special pin (1) has been installed on the front brake disc rotor (2). To accommodate this pin a hole (3) has been provided on the front wheel (4) (the rear wheel does not have this hole.) and in some case the rear wheel is being mistakenly installed on the front. |
The most direct way of rotating your tires is to switch the tires to opposing rims. This will require that you go to a wheel and tire shop. They will need to remove all the wheels and tires from your G37, then they will need to remove the tires from the wheels. The final step is to replace the tires back on the opposite wheels (i.e. left front tire moved to the right front wheel).
This method places the worn inner treads on the outside of the tire to provide longer tread life.
Another way to acheive rotatability on your G37 is to purchase same size/same offset wheels. You will also need same size tires. Not only does doing this allow you to rotate your tires and prolong tread life, it will also improve handling and turning response. With the smaller front tires, the Z has some understeer. Many who take their G37's to the race track opt for this method for better handling and improved front end traction.
This method will allow you to rotate your tires in the standard manner: front right to left rear and so on..
Regarding spare tire (for emergency) wheel, wrong assembly protection pin through hole (1) has been set in addition to regular bolt holes (2) in order to enable installation to front wheel.
NOTE: Protection pin through hole of 18 inch spare wheel is non-through type.
